Northumberland Fire and Rescue Service opens new fire station

A new purpose-built fire station fit for 21st century firefighting was officially opened in Ponteland on 17 March.
The station has been built to provide a reliable and efficient modern-day service for local people.
Now home to on call crew providing emergency response. So far 65 incidents have been attended including fires, road traffic collision, flooding and hazardous materials.
The station was officially opened by Fire Authority chair, Cllr John Riddle who says this will provide effective emergency cover for generations to come.
He said: "I am delighted to be officially opening the new Ponteland fire station.
“This is the culmination of the efforts of our colleagues whose vision and incredible hard work has resulted in today’s success.”
Deputy Chief Fire Officer Mark McCarty said:” This is a state-of-the-art fire station which brings the facilities into the 21st century.
“The building allows the team at Ponteland to continue to support the local community delivering emergency response, fire safety advice, humanitarian services and safety advice to residents across Northumberland.
“This will serve our communities for decades and is an exciting opportunity for the people of Ponteland.”
