High level of first place school offers in Northumberland

Over 97% of year 6 pupils moving up to secondary or high school in September have received their first-choice school in Northumberland.

For a third year running the county has maintained its high levels of students being offered their first-choice place at 97.6% with 2.3% receiving their second choice and 0.10% receiving their third choice.

All students in the county therefore received one of their top three choice of schools.

Councillor Guy Renner-Thompson, cabinet member with responsibility for children’s services said: “We are committed as a council to ensuring there are enough school places in catchment areas for students moving up to secondary or high school, so it is great news that all students have received one of their top three choices and over 97 percent their first choice.”
