Sign up for swimming - one of life’s most important lessons

Active Northumberland is restarting its Learn to Swim programme and is inviting people to enrol onto the scheme which is suitable for children of all ages and abilities.

The swimming lessons are available on a range of days and times and take children from four years and upwards through the progressive stages,  with achievement badges and certificates along the way

Mark Seymour, head of swimming at Active Northumberland said:
“Swimming lessons can be some of the most important hours of your life. Not only do you learn the essential skills that stay with you for life, but you can also have lots of fun and the health benefits are enormous too.

“We try to encourage parents to start their children off with lessons as early as possible so they are confident in water and already swimming before they start school. We find this gives them a real head start.  We also run one on one lessons for those who would like a bit of extra support.

The lessons last 30 minutesThere are flexible payment options and if you join the Learn to Swim scheme you are entitled to free Swim For All sessions.

The eight participating pools are: Ashington, Blyth, Concordia Cramlington, Morpeth Riverside, Prudhoe Waterworld, Ponteland, Wentworth in Hexham and Willowburn in Alnwick.

In the first instance, please fill in a Learn to swim enquiry form  to enrol and a member of the Active team will be in touch, alternately ring 01670 620200.
