Three Northumberland County Council employees have received prestigious awards for their outstanding contribution to improving community safety.

Community Safety Officers, Lynsey Green, Ross Mcleod and Darren Dougan were presented with the accolades at the Northern Police Awards Ceremony held in Newcastle this week.

The officers work closely with Northumbria Police and other local partners to tackle anti-social behaviour such as neighbourhood disputes, rowdy behaviour and noise complaints.

Lynsey was nominated for her pivotal work within the Bedlington Policing Team. During her time with the partnership Lynsey has provided exceptional customer service with a warm and cheerful attitude. She is knowledgeable, dependable and approachable and has been known to resolve difficult conflicts and situations with remarkable patience and tact.

Ross was nominated by Ashington Neighbourhood Policing Team. He strives to assist the team wherever possible, no matter what the size or complexity of the task, and he forms an integral part of the partnership team.

Darren was nominated by Blyth & Cramlington Policing Teams for whom he provides a huge amount of support and ready access to Northumberland County Council ASB powers to protect vulnerable people and communities from harm. Darren’s hard work ethic and positive attitude has contributed to the partnership’s success.

Leader of Northumberland County Council Peter Jackson said:

“ Each and everyday our employees go out of their way to make a positive contribution to  communities across Northumberland.

“ Our community safety officers work closely with Northumbria Police to resolve local issues and make the area a better and safer place for everyone.  These awards celebrate the valuable contribution they make. Congratulations to everyone involved.”

Detective Chief Inspector Jonathan Bensley, from Northumbria Police, said: “It is incredibly important to recognise the valued work our partners do and it was an honour to be able to present Lynsey, Ross and Darren with these awards.

“A vital part of what we do is done through partnership working and as we strengthen that we can continue to address the needs and concerns of communities and ensure they remain a safe place to live, work and visit.”
