People power is to decide the pick of the county’s pictures.

Discover our Land, the campaign championing the profile of Northumberland, is asking the public to play their part and cast their vote in its autumn photo competition.

The campaign, which is led by the County Council, launched the competition last month after the huge success of its inaugural competition earlier this year.

The judging panel, which included Councillor Cath Homer and professional photographer Neil Denham have decided on their shortlist of their favourite shots and now it’s up to the public to pick a winner.

There were over 200 entries into the competition showcasing a variety of gems from around the county. The entries have now been whittled down to a shortlist of just four under 16s entries and 14 adult entries.

Cllr Homer, cabinet member for Culture, Arts, Leisure and Tourism said: “It was a tough decision narrowing down all of the amazing photographs. We were blown away by the sheer number of entries and it was fantastic to see so many diverse and unique images of Northumberland.

"Discover our Land is all about telling the stories of our county, and what better way to do that than through the lens of those who know it best, our people.”

Selected entries will also be included in the Discover our Land touring photo exhibition in County Hall reception later this month.
