Community invited to hear latest on Morpeth plans

Morpeth residents are being invited to find out more about ongoing developments for the town.

The latest Morpeth Forum drop-in session at the Town Hall will offer updates on the new leisure centre and The Terrace site, The Chantry, and plans for library and customer services facilities.

There will also be a chance to find out more about work on the new Morpeth First School, the refurbishment of County Hall and the county council’s Produced in Northumberland scheme.

The event will be held on Saturday, March 16 from 10am to 3pm, and as well as the county and town council, there will be displays from the Greater Morpeth Development Trust, the NHS, Chamber of Trade and local developers.

Councillor Richard Wearmouth, Cabinet Member for Economic Development, said: “It’s been a very busy and productive few months in Morpeth, with a number of exciting developments announced.

“Good progress is also being made on some of the major construction projects in the town and we want to share the very latest on all these schemes with the local community.”

Town Councillor Nic Best commented: “It is good not only to see these developments coming forward, but also that they are being presented together so that their overall effect can be appreciated.

“And although this is billed as an update session, I do hope that people will also take the opportunity to give constructive feedback on these emerging projects, and on what the Morpeth Forum should be looking at next.”

The Morpeth Forum event takes place at Morpeth Town Hall, Market Place, NE61 1LZ, between 10am and 3pm on Saturday, March 16.
