Blyth bandstand shining bright again

The refurbishment of Blyth Bandstand is now complete ahead of the busy tourist season.

The bandstand near South Beach is 90 years old but for several years its lights haven’t worked. Last month work got underway early to bring the bandstand back to its former glory.

Lights at the base of the pillars and around the bandstand have all been replaced with new energy efficient LED lights and the structure repainted and given a general tidy-up.

Councillor Glen Sanderson, Cabinet Member for Environment and Local Services, said: “We’re very pleased to have got Blyth Bandstand looking back to its best ahead of Easter and the coming summer season.

“We know how much its valued locally and there was a lot of positive feedback from the community when we announced we were carrying out the work. It should now be in good shape for many years to come.”
