‘Silence in the Library’ comes to Alnwick!

Northumberland Libraries, together with Hexham Book Festival,  have been working on a fantastic project to bring an exciting new space to our libraries - and we want you to experience it!

Our new, uniquely designed quiet space takes the form of a pod and is the perfect place for sharing a story away from the hustle and bustle of the outside world.
The pod incorporates a sound barrier to any noise going on in the library which makes it particularly good for people with dementia or who are on the autistic spectrum or have other sensory conditions.

We have a great range of audio book stories suitable for children and adults of all ages - whether you are looking for a story or rhyme book to share with your child or would like to relax by yourself and enjoy having a story or piece of poetry read to you for a change - the choice is yours!

The pod is touring libraries in Northumberland and it’s January home is Alnwick Library.

The pod is available and accessible for everyone to use.  For group bookings, or to book in advance of your visit, please contact the library on 01670 622156

Alnwick Library will also be hosting a Harry Potter Book Event on Saturday 26th January at 10am.
This will be a fantastic opportunity for children aged 8 years and over to have wizarding fun in the library and experience the magic of the pod before it disappears from Alnwick and flies off to it’s next location (Cramlington!)
Go to: www.eventbrite.co.uk and search ‘Northumberland Libraries’ to book your free tickets.

The ‘Silence in the Library’ pod is at Alnwick until Tuesday 29th January.
