County Councillor to be remembered in celebration

A ‘celebration of life’ for Northumberland County Councillor Bernard Pidcock will be held on Friday, February 22nd.

Cllr Pidcock MBE, who was 74, died at the weekend. He represented the Holywell Ward and had been on the county council since 2013. Bernard had also served on Blyth Borough Council for 12 years and Seaton Valley Parish Council between 2009 and 2013.

The celebration will take place at Seaton Delaval Community Centre at 1pm followed by a short service at Blyth Crematorium at 2.30pm.

There will also be a gathering at Seaton Terrace Club, which all are welcome to join.

A statement released by Bernard’s family said: “Very sadly, Cllr Bernard Pidcock died on Saturday, 9th February, surrounded by his family who loved him dearly.

“He lived life with such energy, warmth and passion, it is hard to not feel like his was a life cut short.

“Bernard wouldn’t have wanted people to mourn, but instead to reflect and celebrate his life and what he stood for and that is what will happen. If you knew Bernard, his family would like you to join them in celebration.”

The family don’t want flowers for the funeral but in lieu of this, people may wish to make a donation to Care4Calais or Ward 18 at the RVI in Newcastle. Donations can be sent via Melrose Funeral Directors, Seaton Delaval.

The Community Centre is on Elsdon Avenue, Seaton Delaval, NE25 0BW. Please park in Astley High School car Park as there is insufficient parking at the community centre. (Elsdon Avenue, NE25 0BP)

The Crematorium Service will be at Cowpen Crematorium, Cowpen Road, Blyth, NE24 5SZ
