Weather update - August 11 at 10.30am

Fire crews and council staff are working with partners as they continue to closely  monitor the weather in Northumberland.

Most flood warnings and alerts in the county are currently no longer in force, with river levels dropping, although further rain is predicted today and teams are out and about in the county monitoring river levels and ensuring residents are kept safe..

Highways teams are out cleaning up roads in Morpeth and Rothbury, and the footbridges in Morpeth over the Wansbeck remain closed until they’ve had safety inspections.

Motorists are still being advised not to travel if possible and fords must still be avoided altogether.

Current roads closed are the B6342 and B6344 at Rothbury, the B6320 between the A68 and Otterburn, C180 at Holystone and C178 at Callaly.

The council is working closely with police, the Environment Agency and Northumbrian Water during the current spell of wet weather.
