Water Warning from Northumberland Fire and Rescue Service
04 Apr 2019 ARCHIVED (over 3 months old) - view latest news
Following a number of recent water related incidents, Northumberland Fire and Rescue Service is reminding members of the public about the the dangers posed by fast flowing water.
Due to current river levels caused by recent adverse weather conditions the public are being asked to exercise extreme caution around all watercourses, streams, rivers, reservoirs and ponds.
A standing depth of as little as 15 cm, coupled with fast flowing water can be enough to sweep an adult off their feet.
The advice is to stay a minimum of 3 meters from the waters edge at all times, however if you do get into difficulties, or you see anyone else in danger, stay calm and alert the emergency services immediately.
