HEPSCOTT Park Horticultural Skills Unit is hosting its annual summer fair on Wednesday, 25th July.
The event takes place between 11am and 2pm with a range of stalls selling edible delights, crafts, gifts and plants.
The Rhythm Stix drumming group from The Pottergate Centre in Alnwick are returning for the second year after their performance proved a huge hit at last year’s fair.
There is also the opportunity for visitors to have their tea leaves read.
Meanwhile, Hepscott Park Garden Cafe will be serving its usual range of delicious treats.
Hepscott Park HSU offers skills and work experience in horticulture to adults with learning disabilities living within Northumberland. The service, which is provided by Northumberland County Council and managed by Northumbria Healthcare Foundation Trust, aims to promote independence and pride in achievement.
As well as selling a wide range of plants, Hepscott Park HSU will be running a tombola stall and raffle at the fair.
Day centres from across Northumberland will be setting up stalls selling a range of goods which people who use the services have produced and created, including fresh vegetables, baked goods, woodcraft items, handmade soap, mugs, ceramics, artwork, photographs and jewellery.
Cllr Veronica Jones, portfolio holder for Adult Well Being and Health, said: “Staff and volunteers have been hard at work getting ready for the summer fair, and it’s set to be a great event.
“Our seasonal events are a great opportunity to showcase the hard work of all of our staff and people who use the service who have been working hard tending to a fantastic array of fresh produce and plants.”
Service Manager Clive Moon hopes that the fair will attract visitors from far and wide to see what Hepscott Park has to offer.
He said: “Hepscott Park HSU and Garden Cafe are something of a hidden gem as visitors often comment that they didn’t know we are here. However, they always seem to return.
“Our summer fair is one of our biggest events of the year and a great opportunity for people to come and see what we have to offer.
“We can’t promise you sunshine, but we can promise a fun day out with something for everyone.”
Hepscott Park is off the A192 Morpeth to Cramlington road; just follow the brown sign to ‘Garden Cafe’.
