Followers of Northumberland County Council’s event pages are about to see an exciting new rebrand.

The What to do in Northumberland social media pages will be rebranded “Discover Northumberland” as part of it’s continued objective to increase engagement and original content on its social media sites.

The Facebook and Twitter pages will continue to share information on the exciting range of events happening throughout the year across the county, but will also now be asking followers for their top tips and recommendations to help new users “discover” Northumberland.

Across Facebook and Twitter the social media sites have a combined following of 55k people and it is hoped the rebrand will encourage new followers to discover what is great about Northumberland.

As well as event information, the pages will also share exciting news from the county, such as the announcement that Northumberland was named the Best UK County/Destination of the Year at last week’s British Travel Awards.

Ann Bridges, Head of Communications at the council said: “The What to Do in Northumberland social media pages have a very loyal following and have become the place to find out about events happening in Northumberland.

“We wanted to give the pages a fresh new look and encourage further engagement from our followers, whilst continuing to give followers the ideas and information they are looking for. The new brand is all about followers telling us what they love to discover in Northumberland whether it’s a great event, a fab new eaterie that has opened or their favourite place to stay.”
