Northumberland Fire and Rescue Service (NFRS) have signed an agreement with County Durham and Darlington Fire and Rescue Service (CDDFRS).
The agreement, established under the Fire and Rescue Act and referred to as the Sections 13 and 16 agreement, delivers mutual assistance and aid between NFRS and CDDFRS, covering the Northumberland and County Durham and Darlington areas.
NFRS and CDDFRS will benefit from each others expertise across county borders, with specialisms including water rescue, environmental protection, wildfire assistance, animal rescue, and much more.
Signing on behalf of NFRS, Deputy Chief Fire Officer Mark McCarty said: “This is an update and continuation of our excellent partnership with our colleagues at Durham and Darlington. The purpose of the agreement is to protect our communities by delivering even faster more effective response to emergency incidents across both counties and to support each other with specialisms in order to deal with these incidents as effectively as possible."
