Dog rescue calendar raises over £1000 for local animal charities

A calendar featuring dogs that have been rescued by Northumberland County Council’s animal welfare team has raised over £1,000 which will be divided up between four animal charities.

The cost of producing the calendar was  funded by the fines collected for dog fouling offences in Northumberland and the £1,047 proceeds from the sale of the calendar will now be split equally between The Dogs Trust, Shak, Alexa’s Animals and B.A.R.K.

Northumberland County Councillor  Glen Sanderson, cabinet member for environment and local services said: " The council produces this calendar each year and it’s a great way for us and members of the public to  support the local animal charities we work closely with and help them fund their fantastic work.”

Jan Ross from B.A.R.K based in Berwick said:   “ We work very closely throughout the year with the council’s animal welfare team who bring many rescue cases to us for recovery, recuperation and rehoming as well as dogs waiting to be reunited with their owners. Raising funding to enable us to carry out our valuable  work is an ongoing challenge for us and we are very grateful for this donation. ”
