Community groups invited to bid for funding

Voluntary and community groups across South Northumberland, in need of financial assistance,  are being invited to apply for funding from Northumberland County Council’s community chest fund.

The council’s £416,000 community chest fund is split evenly across the county. While the funding  for the north, west and central areas of the county has all been allocated, there is still funding  available for the south Northumberland area.

The grant scheme is open to any voluntary or community, not-for-profit groups or organisations based in, or predominantly serving Northumberland.

The money can be used for a range of community causes and projects including events, or for the purchase  of equipment. It will also support one off initiatives, including those that will help support the development of sustainable long term projects that are seen as valuable to the area.  It cannot be used for revenue funding.

Grants of up to £10,000 are available and there is no minimum amount for applications.

The council is particularly keen to hear from organisations that have not previously received funding through the scheme.

The deadline for funding is February 28th and applications will be considered by the Grants Funding Panel on March 2nd.
