As part of its programme of investment in sports facilities across the county, Northumberland County Council has recently completed the refurbishment of the football changing rooms at Morpeth Common.
The condition of the changing rooms had deteriorated badly as a result of their age, and they had to be taken out of use a few years ago.
They have now been been completely refurbished to provide a facility suitable for adult teams, as well as girls and boys teams.
An accessible toilet has also been added which can also be entered from outside the changing rooms and can be used by spectators during training sessions and matches.
Northumberland County Council’s cabinet member for local services, Cllr Ian Swithenbank, was joined by local Morpeth ward Councillor Andrew Tebbutt and ‘Morpeth Conservatives’ Sunday League Football Team Member, Jack Marshall to mark the completion of the refurbishment and the reopening of the changing rooms.
Councillor Swithenbank said: “I’m delighted that the county council has been able to invest in the changing rooms and provide an excellent facility for adult and junior football teams in Morpeth.”
Councillor Tebbutt said: “It’s great that we’ve been able to enhance these facilities and help to encourage participation in football as part of a healthy lifestyle.”
