Turf Cutting Ceremony Marks Start of School Build

Pupils, staff and councillors joined the team from Galliford Try on Thursday 23rd November,at an official event to to mark the start of building work on the new Darras Hall Primary School.
Galliford Try has been appointed as the official contractor for the a £5.8 million project,which will see a two-form entry primary school building created to replace the school’s existing building.
The new school building, which will be completed in time for the start of the new academic year in September 2018, follows the decision by Northumberland County Council’s to reorganise schools in the area to a Primary & Secondary system of education.
Councillor Wayne Daley, Deputy Leader and cabinet member for Children’s Services at Northumberland County Council said: “This marks the start of building work on a school build for Darras Hall Primary School.
“We want every child in Northumberland to have the best possible educational opportunities and this investment will help to provide the best possible learning environment.”
Cliff Wheatley, Managing Director of Galliford Try North East and Yorkshire, said: “The outstanding success of the North East PSBP means that Northumberland Council knows we are a partner they can count on to deliver and we look forward to working with them to provide the high-quality new buildings that local children deserve.”
