Residents are being reassured of extra measures the council is taking to secure a school site once it closes after the summer.
Northumberland County Council is working with a company called Ad Hoc to place a number of ‘Property Guardians’ to live in the adult learning section of Lindisfarne School at Alnwick.
This will be on a temporary basis until the future use of these buildings are established. The aim of the Property Guardians is to supplement the existing onsite security measures following the recent closure of the school.
Those who stay on the site undergo a number of checks to ensure they are suitable and must prove they are in employment, have suitable references and take part in face to face interviews.
The Council is working towards an agreement with Ad Hoc for them to manage the site and this arrangement has already worked well in a number of other council owned buildings.
