Thousands Flock to Residents’ Festival

The 2017 Northumberland Residents’ Festival has been hailed a great  success with thousands of residents taking advantage of the  weekend  sunshine  and the free and discounted entry to visit many of the county’s top attractions.

Throughout the weekend over thirty attractions including castles, gardens, houses and museums took part in the festival and opened their doors to local residents at reduced rates.

The event was organised by Northumberland County Council in partnership with leading visitor attractions from across the county with the aim of giving local people the opportunity to enjoy some of the world class venues and fantastic heritage that we have on our doorstep

A spokesperson from Northumberland County Council  said:

“It's easy to forget just how special our county is and the many great things there are to do and see on our  doorstep. We are delighted that so many residents  took advantage of the discounted entry charges to experience the wonderful attractions Northumberland has to offer.”

Alex Phillips, Visitor Attraction  Manager at Kirkley Hall Zoological Gardens said:

“ We had a really good turn-out over the Festival weekend with  people of all ages coming along to enjoying their day together in the sunshine.   We hope that they will come back and see us again soon.”
