Northumberland County Council has teamed up with partners to alert residents to possible scams.
The council is working with Natwest, Northumberland Fire and Rescue Service, Northumbria Police and national organisation Friends Against Scams to run a special awareness event at the new Hexham Fire Station from 10am to 12noon on Friday, 28th April.
The event is open to anyone who wants to learn more about scams and how to avoid them and representatives from all the organisations will be available to chat to on the day.
There will be a presentation about what to watch out for with scams and refreshments and a chance to ask questions.
Darin Wilson, the County Council’s Trading Standards and Animal Health Manager, said: “Scams are changing all the time as criminals work out new ways to separate residents from their money.
“This event is a great opportunity for both residents and businesses to get some face to face expert advice on the latest scams and how to avoid falling for them.”
Space is limited and anyone interested in attending should contact Claire Douglas on 01670 623775 or via e mail on firstname.lastname@example.org
to reserve a space.
Entrance to the new fire station is via Maidens Walk, Hexham (NE46 1DP).
