Find out the latest on the £50m super-school for the Seaton Valley.

The super-school is part of the council’s major investment in school facilities across the county and aims to transform education for young people in Seaton Valley for generations to come.

BAM Construction is delivering the £50m contract that will see the two schools rebuilt on a new shared campus to create a state-of-the-art learning environment for over 1,000 students opening in September 2025.
Sports facilities including a fitness studio, swimming pool and 3G pitch will be available for use by the wider community.

The building will also be net zero carbon in operation - keeping running costs to a minimum so more funding can be invested into teaching and learning.

Work is underway on the masterplan that will transform education in Amble and the surrounding area for generations to come.
 
Northumberland County Council is investing £39m into the Coquet Partnership of schools as it moves from a three to a two-tier system from September 2024.
 
The plans include:

• the expansion of the first schools into primary schools
• a new building for Amble First School
• a new satellite site for Barndale House School
• a new building for James Calvert Spence College.

As well as providing first-class learning environments for children and young people, there will be fantastic sports facilities for the whole community too.

Learn more about the £50m investment in schools in North Northumberland.

The council has approved an investment of over £50m in the Berwick Partnership of schools..

From September 2025, the partnership’s first schools will expand their age range up to 11 to become primary schools and Berwick Academy will become an age 11 to 18 secondary academy from September 2026.    

Specialist, post-16 skills and post-18 provision will be expanded including a new SEN Unit at the site of Berwick St Mary’s Church of England First School with 30 places for children diagnosed with special educational needs, primarily those with Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH), Speech Language and Communication (SLCN) and Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD) with effect from 1 September 2025.

A new Family Hub will open at Wooler First School.
