This will deliver a £2.4m programme of improvements to boost the town centre and enhance the Conservation Area, focusing interventions on Priestpopple, Battle Hill and Cattle Market. It runs from October 2020 until March 2024.

The High Streets Heritage Action Zone (HSHAZ) programme is a nationwide initiative to secure lasting improvements to historic high streets
This workstream will run throughout the whole period of the HSHAZ programme, up to March 2024.
This scheme commences in July 2023 and will be completed in Spring 2024.
The Shambles sits within the Market Place in the centre of the Hexham Conservation Area; at over 250 years old it is in a poor state of repair.
