What is it?

The Northumberland Employment Partnership project, funded by the North East Combined Authority (North East CA), and working with Newcastle and North Tyneside Councils, brings together organisations to support residents and local employers to upskill the workforce and for residents to move into good quality work.

How does it work?

A range of organisations across Northumberland in all sectors play a role in delivering learning, employment, and wider inclusion to residents to remove their barriers to work and help them secure good jobs and progress in the labour market.

Coordinating this work can help maximise efforts and deliver benefits for our residents and employers, and the Employment Partnership Coordinator actively brings organisations together to promote partnership working.

Working with businesses is critical to promote the benefits of employing local people into good work and helping deliver a more inclusive economy. An Employer Engagement Coordinator employed by Advance Northumberland works directly with local employers to help them access to the right learning and employment support to meet their recruitment and business growth needs.

The Northumberland Employment and Skills Partnership oversees the partnership, providing a link with the North East CA to make sure Northumberland’s needs are met. A Northumberland Employability Network provides a forum for all providers of employability, skills and inclusion services to work together and share information and good practice.

Who else is involved?

The Voluntary and Community Sector (VCS) is playing a key role too, working with people in their communities to find the specific localised support they need.

The council is working jointly with Northumberland CVA and the Thriving Together network to deliver a partnership that connects directly with communities and the grass roots organisations that work within them.
