Cultural Investment

The Cultural Investment programme is dominated by maximising the potential of the Destination programme within the Borderlands Inclusive Growth Deal which seeks to further build upon and extend the considerable visitor attraction assets of the county - particularly to national and international visitors hence the focus on Hadrian’s Wall, Alnwick Garden, and the Berwick Maltings. The considerable role of walking and cycling is also recognised with a number of new routes planned to complement the existing national network and better connect with these attractions and those towns with train stations. This approach will continue going forward, complemented with the further unlocking of the potential at Kielder Water and Forest Park, including its unique “dark skies” offer, and the potential introduction of new attractions on the Northumberland coast.
