Did you know: Domestic heating is one of the main contributors to climate change, and it costs the average household £1,254 a year to heat their home!

One of the best ways to reduce carbon emissions and keep energy bills to a minimum, is to invest in energy efficient improvements to your home, such as wall and loft insulation, double or triple glazing, and renewable energy resources like ground source heat pumps. But these can be very costly.

That’s where the new Government Green Homes Grant scheme comes in. The scheme will cover two-thirds of costs towards improvements of up to £5,000, with low income households offered vouchers to cover full improvement costs under £10,000.

This national scheme is running from 30 September 2020 until 31 March 2021, and is open to both residents and landlords (landlords are limited to £5,000 grants).

It’s really easy to apply, all you have to do is:
STEP 1: Check your eligibility using the Simple Energy Advice website
STEP 2: Check what energy efficiency or low carbon heat improvements may be suitable for your home
STEP 3: Find certified installers in your area that are able to carry out the work and get a quote on costs
STEP 4: Apply for the voucher

Once improvement works have been made, households could save up to £600 a year on energy bills, and help reduce your carbon footprint.
