The Health Trainer Service is here to help you make realistic lifestyle changes that are tailored to your needs. Health Trainers provide group work and one to one support for anyone living in Northumberland aged over 16 years.

 
If you need support on any of the following:  

  • Healthy food choices 
  • Weight management 
  • Increasing physical activity 
  • Drinking less alcohol 
  • Stopping smoking

How to make a referral to Northumberland Health Trainer Service  

  
Self-referrals can be made by calling the service or sending an email  

Health Trainer Service on 01670 623840 or email: healthtrainers@northumberland.gov.uk   

 
Referrals are processed office hours, Monday to Friday.  

We will need your name, address, date of birth and contact details.   If you have your NHS number that will help.  

  

Referrals by professionals 

ICE (Northumbria Healthcare and GP Surgeries) or submit a referral form via our webform https://nccform.northumberland.gov.uk/form/lphshtref 

 

One of our friendly team members will be in touch to arrange an appointment at a face-to-face clinic, telephone consultation or support group programme, whichever is most convenient for you.

Our organised walks are a great way to get fit and meet new people. All walks are free of charge and are led by professional Health Trainers.

Open to adults in Northumberland, the walks take place from: 

  • Seaton Park Medical Group, Norham Road, Ashington, NE63 0NG - Meets every Monday at 1pm 
  • Haltwhistle Swimming & Leisure Centre, Greencroft, Haltwhistle, NE49 9DP - Meets every Tuesday at 10.30 am 
  • Bedlington Library, Glebe Road, Bedlington, NE22 6JX - Meets every Thursday at 10am
