Health Champions

The Integrated Wellbeing Service delivers a Community Health Champions rolling programme.

The Integrated Wellbeing Service delivers a Community Health Champions rolling programme which is ideal for those who would like to know more about how to raise awareness of health, promote healthier choices and share health messages with others.

The programme will help to develop your knowledge of key Health Improvement topic areas and includes:
  • An introductory session covering: ‘What is a Health Champion?’ and ‘Making Every Contact Count’ (MECC).
  • A rolling programme of Health Bite sessions covering: Healthy Weight, Healthy Eating, Alcohol, Drugs, Smoking, Physical Activity, Mental Health, 5 Ways to Wellness and more.
The training offers practical tools and skills to enable you to pass on key health and wellbeing messages to clients, colleagues, friends and family and signpost people into services that will help them live a healthier lifestyle. You will receive handouts, leaflets, information and links to services which can support people who wish to make lifestyle changes. You will also receive monthly emails about the latest public health campaigns to help to cascade across our communities.
 
There is also an opportunity to gain a Level 2 Royal Society of Public Health - Understanding Health Improvement Award.
