The HSE have confirmed that COVID-19 is a reportable disease under RIDDOR 2013, but only in cases where there is reasonable evidence that someone diagnosed with COVID-19 was likely exposed because of their work. Further information can be found on the HSE webpage. Managers should speak to their Health and Safety Advisor or email email@example.com. prior to making a notification, to ensure the case meets the reporting criteria. If it is agreed that a case does need to be reported to the HSE, this must also be logged on the Council’s ANVIL incident reporting system so a central record can be retained.
A new e-form has replaced the ‘Accident/Near Miss Form (ACC1)’ and the ‘Violent Incident Report Form (VI)’ which have been in use across Northumberland County Council (NCC) for a number of years.
To benefit from the full functionality of the new system, and to comply with NCC data security requirements, to access the form you must be on the NCC network in an NCC building or have an NCC device, such as a laptop or tablet, with direct access to the network. If using a chromebook, you will need to use Citrix. This also applies to NHS Managers who are required to authorise forms involving NCC staff or service users. REPORT AN INCIDENT ON ANVIL - all NCC establishments, including schools with NCC network access, should use this link to report an incident. This option includes a facility for a Manager to authorise a report prior to submission to the Corporate Health and Safety Team. Any Academies which have NCC network access may also use this link to access this facility, although please note that certain fields may not autopopulate.

REPORT AN INCIDENT ON ANVIL- Academies and other schools with no NCC network access should use this link. The Manager authorisation function is not available via this option; this is due to NCC data security requirements.

Where can I purchase the poster?
It is available from various bookshops, health and safety executive books, and the supplies team, who are the council’s stationary supplier. No central budget is available to fund this. Leaflets and pocket cards can be downloaded, free, by clicking this link.
