The Disabled Children
Team
The Children’s Services Directorate has
certain responsibilities for disabled children and young people who
live in Northumberland. All the Family
and Children’s Trust (FACT) teams provide services to children
with special needs and their families. Those with more complex and
profound disabilities are dealt with by the Disabled Children Team.
The team also provides a service for hearing impaired children and
young people, and commissions a specialist service for children
with visual impairments.
You, or a professional on your behalf, can
contact the Disabled Children Team to make a referral. The most
appropriate team to respond will be identified and an initial
assessment will be undertaken by a qualified social worker if
required.
