Rural development

Rural development. The authority should have a published plan for the ongoing development of their rural communities. The Plan should take account of the needs of the local community balanced with conservation, economic regeneration and environmental considerations.

Rural Voices

Rural Voices is for everyone interested in rural development. It is a free networking and information sharing website run by the County Council on behalf of a number of partners.

Rural Enterprise Tynedale

Rural Enterprise Tynedale serves an area of over 200 square kilometres, home to 60,000 people.  Agriculture, forestry and tourism industries are significant and high quality of the environment make the area a very attractive place in which to live and work

Community Action Northumberland

Community Action Northumberland (CAN) offers help and advice to rural communities as well as being involved on the development of rural policies for the region.  For example, they have supported parish planning processes across the county.  More information on the work they do can be found on the Community Action Northumberland website.

The Northern Rural Network

The Northern Rural Network (NRN) is a learning network extending across the north of England.  It has more than 1000 members, including rural development practitioners from rural businesses, local authorities, public agencies and the voluntary sector, as well as academic researchers. Matthew Taylor Review on Rural Economy and Affordable Housing
