Important Alerts and Reminders

School closures, weather alerts and distruptions to council services are listed below.

Winter Alert : Planned winter services actions from 19:00hrs on Wednesday 1st April 2015

Effective: 1 Apr 2015 to 2 Apr 2015

Based on the most recent weather forecast we plan to carry out precautionary gritting on the following routes commencing at 19:00hrs on Wednesday 1st April 2015

• Allendale
• Bearl 4
• Haltwhistle 1
• Otterburn 1
• Otterburn 2
• Rothbury 1
• Rothbury 2

The route from Allendale will be treated again from 05:00hrs on Thursday 2nd April 2015

Should conditions change significantly we will issue another alert to inform you of our planned action.

In continuing cold weather conditions, when widespread ice is forecast, and as resources become available, we will progressively start gritting:

• main footpaths and car parks in town centres
• busy urban shopping areas
• important pedestrian links
• footpaths next to large schools

Cloudy this afternoon and evening with showery outbreaks of rain which could be heavy at times. The rain may fall as snow until around 15:00hrs above 400 metres but no accumulations are expected. The rain is forecast to die out around 19:00hrs with the rest of the night then being dry with cloud breaking to allow clear spells. Low risk of icy patches where roads are left wet from rain during the afternoon and early evening and a low risk of patchy hoar frost at high level sites. Although falling below zero, most surfaces are forecast to be dry tomorrow morning except on the very highest routes, and with low dew points and residual salt on the network ice and frost hazards are not expected.

Any problem areas should be reported to our Customer Services Centre on 0845 600 6400 or you can report via www.northumberland.gov.uk/default.aspx?page=703 which will then be logged directly on our Severe Weather system and appropriate action will be taken
