Library Alert : Online Library Services Unavailable from 7.30pm Wednesday 1st October

National Fraud Initiative

The National Fraud Initiative (NFI) is an anti-fraud data-matching exercise run by the Audit Commission.More about National Fraud Initiative available here
The council is required by law to send information from its computer systems to the Audit Commission for matching as and when required. This includes payroll, pensions, trade creditors, housing, insurance, payments to care homes, passes and permits, licences, direct payments, benefits, council tax and the electoral register.

Road Alert : Full overnight closures of A1 north of Haggerston, near Berwick 29 Sept to 29 Oct

Highway Agency have advised us that in order to carry out carriageway resurfacing works, it will be necessary to implement a series of full overnight closures of the A1 north of Haggerston, near Berwick upon Tweed.More about Road Alert : Full overnight closures of A1 north of Haggerston, near Berwick 29 Sept to 29 Oct available here
The works will be carried out Monday to Thursday between 8.00pm – 06.00am, commencing 29/09/2014 until 29/10/2014.
Wide loads travelling during the working hours, will have to use the holding areas provided, as the designated local diversion route is unsuitable for wide loads. There is an alternative wide area diversion available via A697 Morpeth – Wooler – A698 Cornhill – A1 Berwick.
In order to prevent long delays and inconvenience, abnormal loads should avoid travelling this section of the A1 during working hours, and seek an alternative route.
This work is being carried out by the Highways agency who look after the A1
Road Alert : A1 closed from East Ord - Scremerston at weekends starting Fri 12th Sept for 6 wks
Effective: 12 Sep 2014 to 20 Oct 2014
Please be advised of the intended full closure of the north and southbound carriageways of the A.1 between East Ord roundabout and Scremerston, Berwick upon Tweed, Northumberland.More about Road Alert : A1 closed from East Ord - Scremerston at weekends starting Fri 12th Sept for 6 wks available here
The closure is scheduled to commence on Friday 12th September 2014 and carried out over the following 6 weekends, and is necessary for the complete removal and resurfacing of this section of A.1.
The closures will operate between 20.00 hrs on Friday until 06.00hrs Monday.
There will be a signed local diversion in operation, although this may not be suitable for all abnormal loads. There will be abnormal load holding areas and telephone contact details of the traffic safety officer, who will provide advice and assistance in negotiating the works.
Abnormal loads wishing to travel to or from Scotland, during these closures, should consider using the A.1 - A.69 - M.6 - A.74(M) as an alternative route.
This work is being carried out by the Highways agency who look after the A1.
Library Alert : Building Refurbishment Taking Place at Morpeth Library
Effective: 26 Aug 2014 to 10 Oct 2014
Due to improvement works to take place at the rear of this building, there may be some noise during the next few weeks. Starting 26th August until 10th October. In addition, areas of the First Floor may be sectioned off for safety reasons. We will try to maintain services throughout this time. Apologies for any inconvenience caused.
