Residents invited to plan future of their community

25 January 2010 ( Archived )

If you live in the former Wansbeck District and have any ideas on how your community could be developed and improved – now is the chance to have your say!

The community forums in South East Northumberland are about to embark on a six month programme of public engagement in order to develop  community plans from  which many future decisions and changes around the area could be based.

A series of meetings have been organised and the public are being urged to come along and give their views on the three main themes - the  economy, the environment and people.

Although similar exercises have been carried out in the past in the area, the next six months will see forum participants considering those plans already in place, the projects and services that have been developed and what else may be needed to ensure that the people in these communities have the best possible future.

Lynda Fakir, Locality Development Officer for South East Northumberland said:

“ It is vitally important that the community plans are not imposed on the local community  but that they come from local residents themselves.

“ We want people of all ages who live or work in the area to contribute to the discussions.  The  meetings will be friendly and informal and we hope that people  will come along and  share their views and ideas.”

Evening forum meetings will be held in the Wansbeck and ELL (Ellington, Linton and Lynemouth)  localities on the following dates:
