Northumberland County Council’s Planning Team has put in place alternative ways to receive representations or information on planning applications during the postal strike.
The Royal Mail service recently announced a series of postal strikes, which may affect the Council receiving letters commenting on planning applications or other information relating to applications within designated deadlines.
The Council is urging residents and businesses to use alternative ways to send in comments and information during the postal strike. This can be done by:
- Calling into one of the Council’s Information Centres to hand deliver correspondence or information (for details of your nearest information centre telephone 0845 600 6400)
- Registering objections on the Council’s website at http://www.northumberland.gov.uk/
- Sending information by email to the generic planning email addresses also on the council’s website
- Telephoning the Council on 0845 600 6400 and asking for the case officer to let them know you have posted a letter but it may be delayed. Alternatively ask the case officer for their fax number and fax the document.
Councillor Jim Smith, executive member for regeneration, housing and development, at Northumberland County Council, said, “We aim to ensure that the planning service continues to run smoothly and I urge anyone who intends submitting information to use alternative means of communication.”
