Healthy Living Event at Haltwhistle Library

Residents in the Tynedale area are invited to come to and be health pampered at a Healthy Living Event at Haltwhistle Library on Thursday, 21 June.

 

The event which is organised jointly by Northumberland County Council’s library and adult services will take place from 10.00 am– 4.00pm and is free to attend. The event will feature information on a variety of health issues, free health checks and treatment sessions to help get local residents get fighting fit.

 

The Healthy Living event is the latest in a series of events organised by Haltwhistle Library to promote the various services and facilities available.

 

A range of stalls will be open on the day to allow people to drop in and get advice from representatives from Carers Northumberland, Haltwhistle Health Centre, Surestart Children's Centre Western Tynedale and other local organisations.

 

Amongst the information available on the day will be details of the Health and Wellbeing courses offered by Haltwhistle Adult learning Service including Tai Chi, Mindfulness and Meditation and Massage.  The adult learning service is located on the 2nd floor in the library building.

 

There will also be taster sessions for anyone who is apprehensive about what is on offer.”

 

Visitors to the event will also receive free mini health checks including blood pressure checks and refreshments will be available.

 

Haltwhistle Library also offers a community room for hire for events, meetings, seminars and parties, as well as the Adult Learning courses.

 

Councillor Ian Lindley, executive member for health and wellbeing said:“We are delighted to be able to bring together such a range of organisations all under one roof to promote healthy living. The event aims to raise awareness of the local services and support available to residents as well as encouraging people to get the most out of their library and enjoy the range of facilities available.”
