Northumberland County Council has published a schedule showing how much in total was paid to each of its 67 councillors in allowances and expenses over the last year.
The information shows payments made under the Northumberland County Council Members’ Allowance Scheme which includes basic allowances and special responsibility allowances as well as money paid for travel and subsistence.
The schedule is now available for public inspection at County Hall, Morpeth between the hours of 8.45am and 5pm Monday to Thursday and 8.45am to 4.30pm on Fridays. The allowances can also be viewed on the council’s website http://www.northumberland.gov.uk/pdf/Members%20Expenses%202011-12.pdf
Figures in the schedule show that this year councillors received just under a total of £846,000 in flat rate payments made to all councillors for the roles they perform.
All councillors receive a basic allowance and some receive further allowances for special responsibilities such as performing en executive member or scrutiny role.
