Ashington Town Centre Draft Supplementary Planning
Document Consultation (November
2009)
Plans for the future of Ashington town centre
are being developed by Northumberland County Council with the
support of One North East and the newly established Homes and
Communities Agency. This will involve the preparation of a
draft Supplementary Planning Document (SPD) which covers the area
edged red on the SPD
plan.
The Council consulted on a range of options
for development in the north eastern part of the town centre
during October 2009. We have considered the responses to that
consultation event and have prepared a draft
preferred option consultation document. We are now inviting
comments on the draft SPD from residents, businesses, landowners,
service providers and other organisations with an interest in
Ashington town centre.
Consultation documents can be viewed and comments submitted
here.
The consultation on the draft SPD will run for
a six week period starting on Wednesday 11 November
2009. Written comments should be submitted to the council by
Wednesday 23 December 2009. We will then review all comments
before preparing a final version of the SPD.
The consultation document, which sets out the
council's preferred development scenario for the area, is available
to view via the above link or to download from this web page.
The document provides details about the consultation programme and
how to respond. Background documents are also available to
view and download from the Related Documents section
below.
Comments about the options can be made
electronically via the above link; by email to planningstrategy@northumberland.gov.uk,
or on the response
forms, which are available on line and from the council offices
at Wansbeck Square, Ashington; County Hall, Morpeth and at
Ashington Library. Comments can also be made in writing
