In order to give local citizens a greater say in council
affairs, three area committees have been created. They cover North,
Southeast and West Northumberland.
Their overall aim is to empower citizens, strengthen
communities, and improve services. They involve councillors for
each particular area and are held in public.
Everybody is welcome to attend. Regular items include public
question time, a slot for submitting and considering petitions,
progress on actions from previous meetings, and consultation on
various issues.
