library books and other library items.
Telephone:
You can renew your book at anytime of the day
or night by telephoning our 24 hour renewals line on
01670 50 50 16.
You will be asked for your library card
membership number so please have this ready. When your book is
renewed you will be given a new renewal date which you can write on
the date label inside the book as a reminder.
In Person
If you are in the library and you have a book
at home you want to renew, ask a member of staff and they
will give you a new return date.
Online
Books and other items can be renewed at
anytime of the day or night through the online library catalogue.
You will need your library card membership number and a PIN
number.
Some important points about renewing books and other
items
You cannot renew a book that has been reserved
by another customer. You will be required to return the book as
soon as possible.
Books can be renewed by telephone or online a
maximum of five times. After the fifth renewal you will need to
bring the book back to the library to be checked in. If the book is
not requested you may take it out again.
If your book or other library item is overdue
when you renew it, you will have to pay the fines up to the renewal
point. Once the item is renewed no further fines will be added.
Fines will be added to your library account and can be settled when
you next visit the library.
If you are renewing an item that has a loan
charge, such as a CD or a DVD, the loan charge will be added to
your library account and can be settled when you next visit the
library.
How to get a PIN Number
To use the library catalogue to renew your
books you need a PIN number.
You can obtain a PIN number in person from any
of our libraries. If you cannot get to a library or if
you need a PIN number outside library opening hours you can obtain
one by phone from the 24 hour Contact Centre 0845 600
6400. For security reasons, before a PIN number is issued,
you will be required to provide your library membership number and
be able to confirm some personal details from your membership
record.
