Hexham Priory School

The brand new building for Hexham Priory School in Hexham, built under the Putting the Learner First Programme 9PLF), has now been completed and staff and pupils moved into their new facility in September 2009.

Atkinson House School

Work has now begun on the construction of a new building on the site of Atkinson House School in Seghill, near Cramlington.  The new building will house vocational facilities and workshops to enable students in Years 10 and 11 to follow programmes of study in motor vehicle maintenance, I.T. and construction. The cuirrent national curriculum qualifications will continue, allowing flexibility to match programmes of study to each individual student's needs and aspirations.

The school will expand its number of planned pupil places from 40 to 80 from September 2010 when the new building is planned to open.  This will widen opportunities for young people in the county who may currently be in mainstream schools and will enable some students who are currently being educated outside of the county to return to their own communities and reduce travelling times.
