Partnerships - Prudhoe

Prudhoe Partnership

Prudhoe Partnership (pyramid) is organised on the basis of a three tier educational system (first, middle and high school).

However, St Matthew’s RC Primary School in the partnership is organised as a primary school and educates children aged 4-11.  The designated secondary school to which pupils from St Matthew’s transfer at age 11 is St Thomas More School, Blaydon in Gateshead Metropolitan Borough authority.

Schools in the Prudhoe Partnership

Broomley First School

Mickley First School

Ovingham C of E First School

Prudhoe Adderlane First School

Prudhoe Castle First School

Prudhoe West First School

St Matthew’s Catholic Primary School

Wylam First School

Highfield Middle School

Ovingham Middle School

Prudhoe Community High School

Note: St Joseph's Middle School forms part of the Hexham Partnership, but as it is a Roman Catholic school it also takes in pupils living in other parts of the Tyne Valley whose parents have expressed a preference for a catholic education for their child.  However, pupils reaching High School age in the Tyne Valley are generally expected to attend the High school within the catchment area where they live, therefore pupils living in the Prudhoe High School catchment area would not be eligible for transport to the Queen Elizabeth High School (QEHS) in Hexham. There is no right of access to pupils of St Joseph's Middle School to QEHS in Hexham on feeder grounds.

Reorganisation Proposals - Putting the Learner First Programme (PLF)

Proposals on the reorganisation of partnerships under the Putting the Learner First Programme (PLF)can only be put forward where the capital funding for such a reorganisation has been identified.  Presently, it is not envisaged that funding would be in place to carry out a reorganisation of the Prudhoe Partnership until around 2017.  This means that any such proposals will not be consulted upon until around 2015.  However, these indicative dates are subject to change should funding come on stream earlier or later than these dates.

In the meanwhile, the County Council will be working with all schools in Northumberland to identify and implement other methods of improving performance of pupils in our schools.
