Ashington Learning Partnership Trust

In September 2006, Ashington Community High School was selected as a pilot Trust school under the national DfES Pathfinder programme. Under the Trust model it has formed a partnership with

  • Bothal Middle School
  • Central First School
  • Hirst Park Middle School
  • Wansbeck First School

The Council's Executive has agreed to transfer ownership of the school sites to a charitable company set up by the Trustees. School staff formerly employed by the County Council are now employees of the governing bodies of the schools; who are responsible for managing all five schools and admissions into the trust.  However, the admissions applications will continue to be administered by the County Council.

School Reorganisation - Putting the Learner First Programme (PLF)

Ashington Learning Partnership Trust has been identified as one of the first six partnerships in Northumberland that will be consulted on proposals for reorganisation under the Putting the Learner First Programme (PLF).  However, any reorganisation would require the necessary capital to be in place before consultation on proposals could occur.  Therefore, firm dates for consultation will not be set until such capital has been identified.

We will publish consultation dates on this website as soon as they are confirmed.
