Information about Partnerships - Blyth
On Monday 16 July, the County Council Executive agreed to all of the recommendations made for the reorganisation of the Blyth Partnership to a primary/secondary (two/tier) system of education heralding a £54m investment in education in Blyth as part of the Putting the Learner First (PLF) programme.
Briefly, the changes to the partnership will be as follows:-
First Schools have now changed status to primary schools from September 2009, retaining Year 5 pupils, and Year 6 pupils in September 2010.
The Blyth School will become an 11-18 secondary school from September 2010.
Wensleydale Middle School and South Beach First School closed in August 2009 and pupils and staff have transferred to the new all-age Bede Academy with the primary element at the current South Beach First SChool site, the secondary site at the former Ridley High School site. The Bede Academy will have additional sports facilities at the Delaval Middle School site after that school closes in August 2010. Princess Louise and Plessey Road closed in August 2008 and pupils have transferred to other primary schools according to parental preference. The remaining middle schools in Blyth will close in August 2010 and pupils will transfer to The Blyth School, Bede Academy or another high school in September 2010.
