The School and Early Years Commissioning Team
The School and Early Years Commissioning Team is part of the
People Group within the County Council and provides services
relating to School Organisation, Admissions, Home to School
Transport (Policy), Personnel support to
schools and also information to families on childcare
provision from 0-19 years through the Family Information
Service (FIS). Specifically, these services include:
- school and early years place planning to ensure there are
enough school places in the right areas in the county
- Personnel support and advice to schools;
- support to schools and Governing Bodies in relation to School
Organisation matters (prescribed alterations, school closures,
establishment of a new school proposals);
- support and advice to schools in relation to Trust or
federation proposals;
- implementation and management of the County Council’s
Admissions Policy;
- management and update of the County Council’s Home to School
Transport Policy (implementation of the policy is managed by the
Home to School Transport Team);
- provision of accessible information to parents in
relation to availability of childcare services from 0-19 and
related benefits;
- ensure sufficiency of childcare places across the county.
The School and Early Years Commissioning Team also has the lead
responsibility for the delivery of the Council's key
strategic educational transformation programme - Putting
the Learner First (PLF).
