Memory Boxes

also known as: Libraries, Reminiscence Activities, Reminiscence Boxes.

Memory boxes are themed collections of objects used to share experiences or recall a particular period of time. They can be used by a wide range of people such as schoolchildren and people in residential homes, to bring the past to life.

About the Memory Boxes

Memory boxes are excellent for group activities in Northumberland.  Community groups can use memory boxes for a shared journey recollecting memories which connects the past to the present and brings people of different generations together.

Memory boxes can be loaned by:

  • Individuals
  • Charities
  • Residential care homes
  • Schools
  • Health workers
  • Community Groups

 

The memory boxes contain themed items to help with reminiscence activities.  The themes are:

Borrowing a Memory Box

Boxes are kept at Morpeth Library, but can be borrowed by any adult member of Northumberland Libraries from any Northumberland Library. 

To book a box, complete this memory box booking form, then either:

Hand the form in at your local library.

Send to Shirley Cross at Morpeth Library, or by emailing to shirley.cross@northumberland.gov.uk

 

Fees and Charges

Free two week loan (you need to be a library member - click here to join).

Memory boxes can be renewed once unless they have been requested by another borrower.
