Northumberland Shoppers' Permit
A new countywide Northumberland Shoppers'
Permit was introduced on 1 May 2012 and allows residents with the
permit to park free of charge in designated car parks during
certain times.
The scheme will be as follows:
- A maximum of 2 permits per household with 1
vehicle registration on each.
- Permits will be charged at £15 each.
The same charge will apply to amendments and replacements.
- Permits will be valid for a period of 2
years.
- The permit will only be valid in the
following car parks:
Alnwick - Greenwell Road,
Dispensary Street and Roxburgh Place
Berwick - Castlegate, Parade
and Quayside
Hexham - Loosing Hill and
Wentworth
Morpeth - Stanley Terrace
North, Stanley Terrace South, Newmarket East and Newmarket
West.
- Permits will be valid during the hours of 9am
to 11am and 3pm to 6pm, Monday to Saturday and all day on Bank
Holidays subject to normal time limits in car parks.
- The scheme is open to residents of
Northumberland and all applicants must prove vehicle
ownership or provide evidence if using leased or company
cars.
- If you change your car you must return the
old permit and reapply for a replacement, submitting evidence of
the new vehicle details. Amendments and replacements will be
charged at £15 per permit.

Former Morpeth Shoppers' Permit
The Morpeth Shoppers Permit scheme (formerly
known as the free Morpeth Residents Parking Permit) has been
withdrawn. The scheme was replaced on 1st May 2012 by the
new countywide scheme for all Northumberland Residents.
Please Note: Should you
decide not to purchase a new Northumberland Shoppers Permit then
you may receive a Penalty Charge Notice (PCN) if you park and
continue to display your old Morpeth Permit after the end
of May 2012.
