Keep siblings together

Information on foster care for siblings

Keeping Brothers and Sisters Together

One of our promises to children and young people this year, is to do our very best to find more placements which allow brothers and sisters to live together.

We need people who have larger spare bedrooms or more than one spare bedroom, as well as a wish to help us keep siblings together while they are in foster care.

VMC

Our young children in care council, Young Voices Making Choices (YVMC) helped us to develop messages to raise awareness of the need for...

...more foster carers who can look after brothers and sisters

We would like to thank the group for their time and input.  The following are messages are published with kind permission from the YVMC members:

Christian:

"I think brothers and sisters should only be separated if one bullys the other."

Ellis:

"I think they should stay together because they're family and it's not fair to separate family."

Jennifer:

"I think brothers and sisters shouldn't be parted because one of them could have something wrong with them and might want to stay with their brother or sister."

Hannah:

"It depends on the situation that the siblings are in.  If one is abusive to the other it's ok to split them up but if they don't have a reason to be split up they shouldn't."

Liam:

"Sisters and brothers belong together."

J.B.B:

"Brothers and sisters should stay together because they might be all each other have."
