The Prize formerly known as the Orange Prize celebrates excellence, originality and accessibility in women's writing throughout the world. Madeline Miller won the award in 2012 for her novel The Song of Achilles. The shortlist for this year has just been announced. Kate Atkinson, A M Homes, Barbara Kingsolver, Hilary Mantel, Maria Semple and Zadie Smith have all been shortlisted.
