Latest advice on bin collections in Northumberland

Update at 10:31am on Wednesday 14 March:

The bin collection service is largely back to normal this week - following the effects of the extreme winter weather two weeks ago.

The vast majority of scheduled collections were made last week. A small number were missed in more rural locations, or due to vehicle breakdowns, and we have vehicles out collecting these today.

Regarding bins that were missed during the week of snow:

If your general waste bin was missed on Wednesday, 28th February, you should have put it out for collection on Wednesday, 7 March, and do so again this Wednesday, 14 March. Your recycling bin should be put out for collection on its next scheduled collection day of Wednesday 21 March

If your general waste bin was missed on Thursday 1st March you should have put it out on Thursday 8 March and do so again this week, on Thursday 15 March. Your recycling bin should be put it out for collection on its next scheduled collection day on Thursday 22 March.

If your general waste has been missed we will accept up to two additional black bin bags (or something of a similar size) alongside regular general waste bins.

Additional recycling items can be put in cardboard boxes, paper bags, or clear plastic bags. We are supplying clear recycling bags at our customer information centres and other venues at:

Many thanks for your patience during any disruption caused by bad weather.
