Easter fun at Hepscott Park

Youngsters are invited to take part in a free egg-citing Easter egg trail throughout the school holidays at Hepscott Park Garden Cafe, near Morpeth.

The trail will take place within the gardens and woodland where children will be challenged to find letters hidden around the site to make words, with a prize of a creme egg.

Customers are also invited to walk around the garden trail or call into the garden café for a cup of tea or a bite to eat.

Spring bulbs, a wide range of perennials, shrubs, and house plants that have been grown at the Horticultural Skills Unit will be available to buy to brighten up gardens and homes for the start of spring.

Hepscott Park Horticultural Skills Unit offers skills and work experience in horticulture to adults with learning disabilities living within Northumberland. The service, which is provided by Northumberland County Council and managed by Northumbria Healthcare Foundation Trust, aims to promote independence and pride in achievement.

Northumberland County Councillor Veronica Jones, cabinet member for adult well-being and health, said: “Hepscott Park offers great facilities for people visiting the park and cafe. The Horticultural Skills Unit provides fantastic opportunities for people with learning difficulties to help them gain skills, confidence and meet new people.”

“I would like to encourage people to come along and visit Hepscott Park and its great facilities. As well as children having fun with the Easter trail, customers will be supporting the brilliant work of Hepscott Park, helping to continue its services that are dedicated to benefiting many local people’s lives.”

Hepscott Park Garden Cafe will be open as normal on Good Friday (9am - 3:30pm) and Easter Saturday (9am - 4pm) and will be closed on Easter Sunday and Easter Monday.

The Garden Cafe and Horticultural Skills Unit can be found just off the A192 Morpeth to Cramlington road. Then by following the brown sign to ‘Garden Cafe’.

Staff would like to reassure customers that the nearby building site is not affecting Hepscott Park and the facilities are open as normal.
